14 Jan HELLO WORLD!
I think it’s important for people to know who is behind the art they love, isn’t it? So… here it is, my first article and of course…it starts with.a short story about me….
Born and raised in Craiova, a beautiful city in the south of Romania, I never studied art, but as a lot of my friends remember (I don’t, my memory is bad), I used to draw a lot, especially during the classes I found boring. I never painted, and when I drew, it was portraits and figures….far from being good drawings though.
Then I studied foreign languages and found myself always choosing jobs that had a strong element customer service. I always loved working with people, to connect with them and listen to their stories. Working as a flight attendant gave me the opportunity to meet so many different and wonderful people. Therefore, I think it’s no coincidence that I love drawing people because I just love human beings! YES, that’s me…a people lover!
And then life happened! I married a handsome guy, moved to London and started a new chapter. New job in Hospitality, moving home 4 times, college – studying business management (bleah) and 2 wonderful kids. How I discovered what I was meant to do while being so busy?!?
Well….When life gives you lemons, make a tasty lemonade! Struggling to cope with depression, to overcome it, I picked up the pencil and at the recommendation of my doctor and I started doing what made me feel better and more relaxed…sketching family and friends.
By creating art, I reconnected with a long-lost feeling of happiness, calm, joy but also my childhood. I still remember how I immediately recognised that incredible feeling and suddenly felt like I was a little girl again, back in my old room.
I discovered painting in my late 30’s and without any formal training, I managed to find my own inimitable style by creating unique figurative art.
Like any emerging artist, I lacked confidence in my talent despite getting amazing feedback on my works and it was only after my first exhibition that I had the courage to call myself an artist.
Art enables me to lose myself and find myself at the same time. Being a self-taught artist can be challenging, but at the same time very rewarding and I love every step of this new journey. Art can save anyone, and it definitely saved me!
I think it’s somehow my duty to talk about my journey, so that people know it is possible, to overcome depression and to find themselves. It really isn’t too late, NEVER!
What you’ll find here: more about my art and about my life, tips on what to use, how to be creative, photos and videos of work in progress and all this while having fun.
See you all later! Till then, live life in colour!
